Question Alaskan Yellow Cedar

Was watching a show on PBS last nite about the great lodges in America, & they featured The Paradise Lodge on Mt. Rainier (sp?). The lodge has a ton of furniture, staircases, etc. made from what they said was Alaskan Yellow Cedar. Anybody know if anybody's tried to make a guitar w/ this wood for a top? It looked a lot more like yellow pine than the Western red cedar on my 710, & I'd guess the grain's probably not tight or straight enough, but was just wondering, it sure was a purty yeller color...

I have a Native American flute made out of Alaskan yellow cedar. Sounds real mellow. And purdy too. Though it doesn't have the aroma of red cedar.
