Default Martin TransAction System

Martin has announced a new neck system that allows players to instantly change the string height by adjusting the neck angle.
They are offering this feature on their new DCRNS Venetian cutaway dreds. This would seem a radical departure from their
Dovetail Joint standard approach and looks as if they may have
come up with a major innovation.

Has anyone played one of these things? What are they like?
Sounds like a great concept.

I heard about them...heard they feel and look like toys. Not really an NT thing so much as it is a different way to adjust which does not seem like it could be nearly as stable as their dovetail. Of course, the Martin faithful will reject it as not a "real" Martin.

They reject everything that has a number lower than 18 on it...or so it would seem if you check out the Martin forum.

That's pretty understandable. I have a DMX12 that's OK.
I'd rather have a D28 too. I don't really like their laminates
though they sound well....OK. For that kind of money I'd
rather have a Seagull Artist. At least you get a solid top and
back - the chance of a brighter future.

I'd still like to try the new Marin neck set-up. It appears its going onto a pretty respectable wooden guitar. Solid Indian Rosewood
sides and two piece backs. Maybe I'll check the local dealer
this weekend and see if they have one in.

It's actually not an innovation at all. The very earliest Martin guitars had an adjustable neck that one could change with a key inserted through the heel of the neck. C.F. Martin abandonded the design because it wasn't stable enough for steel strings. So in all actuallity this new guitar is actually retro. Wonder if this one will hold

Its interesting that Martin had used this design many years ago.
it could be that the materials and technology now exist to do it
correctly. I'm sure that the Taylor neck design has had some impact on Martin's thought process. The joys of competition!
It just makes it that much more fun for us players.
