Does anyone use the product called "Finger Ease" to spray on the neck?
Just wondered about this being that I bought a new guitar recently and don't want to use anything that will harm the wood. I've used this stuff for decades on all my other guitars and never noticed any problems with the neck, but thought I should inquire about it before using it on a high-end acoustic. Not sure what's even in it. I always assumed it's a silicone-based spray, but the container doesn't mention anything.

I have thought about it but I just can't bring myself to spray that stuff on the neck of any of my guitars.

It's a gimmick. Put your money into a proper setup.

I've used it off and on for about seven years. Doesn't harm the neck. It does wonders for the sound and feel for fingerstyle. The bad news is the effects don't last for very long.

Yup - Use sparingly - I especially like it on those days when my fingers are dry and need a little tlc before I start up the practice session.
best, Rick

I used to have a chemical thing going on just before going on stage related to "flight or fight" where my fingers would suddenly put out something that would make them not slide on the strings. I learned to love Tone Finger Ease. That problem seems to have eased a while back so I've had the same bottle sitting around since the '80s.
I hear robots use it for a low-calorie pan spray. Bob

I use it on my Pedulla bass where it works great and won't hurt anything.

Used it many years ago, it did make action more slippery. Have seen Stephen Stills use it side stage.

Tip to OP:
Forego the Fingerease. Use Planet Waves' "XLR8" ...better product IMHO. - no spraying junk on your board (yuk) - no excess anything on strings or board - little round applicator that allows you to control how much you want, which is very little which goes a long way in reducing squeaks and adding slickness, the latter of which is a real benefit I've found on a humid day or outdoor gig. - little round tin it comes in is a bonus Edward |

You Don’t spray it on the neck! Spray it on a small cloth then wipe the strings with the cloth.

I do! That's what the directions say! Just a light spray a couple of inches from the neck. Than wipe excess with a cloth. Hasn't hurt anything.

I was watching a video with Ray Benson last weekend (Asleep at the Wheel) where he says, "I'm going to show you a trick I learned for helping my fingers slide up and down the fretboard (paraphrasing)."
Then he takes his fingers, wipes them on the crease next to the bridge of the nose and says something to the effect of, "nature's best." I'll stick to the Finger-ease myself. Rick

Fast Frets is what I have used in the past.
I remember reading that you should not use these products on coated strings. With that in mine I don't use any string cleaning products now.
