The news men are talking about how the winds will become still and silent for the moment.

Our customer in Texas just texted that his site shows a partial coverage. It's 2:16 PM in Ohio. We were told it will reach us in an hour. We have no outside light in the woodshop. sure don't want to be tinkering in the shop and miss the whole event.

It's fun to share the experience with you all this way. We had a partial in 2017.

Another customer is in the eye care field. He isn't excited about the dangers of the after math he will be dealing with.

For anyone interested, "Dark Side of the Moon" is 42 minutes and 50 seconds long...so if you start the album 42 minutes and 55 seconds before your location reaches peak totality, peak totality will coincide with "Eclipse" at the end of the album.

Yes I'm a huge nerd who is totally doing this.

Does this mean I should have a light jacket with me (pun intended )? I am in the path of totality and will have a book and camera with me. The camera will just be pointed towards out Asian lantern and front lawn to record the change in light as the event occurs.

Per our usual, it is cloudy here in Corvallis, with no signs of immediate clearing...

I'll feel it, but I have to imagine the rest!

It was a bit overcast here and partly cloudy but that actually made it easier to view and take an iPhone photo -

With eclipse glasses, saw a black disk with a fingernail of dark orange at one corner. Pretty interesting.

What impressed me most was that the temperature dropped ten degrees, just BANG, and minutes later went back up to 70.

Without the special glasses it was, at its darkest (five minutes of so), like wearing dark glasses outdoors on a sunny day.

A long long way from anything that would cause panic stricken hordes to think it's the end of the world.

It was fun sitting out on the front stoop as I read a book on the the Glasgow Style. I did make a photo at totality (3:11:54). I swear I heard Pink Floyd.

Wellll, I'll counterpoint :-) .. agree, I wasn't down for committing to a location without a forecast, we made plans only after there were 7 day forecasts up, and Burlington VT looked a good bet, and was the shortest travel distance. At the 2044 eclipse I'll likely be gone, or maybe unable to travel.

Below are a photo of the 1/2 eclipsed sun through an 8" telescope, you can see.two sunspots. And then at totality, even after shrinking to fit AGF limits, you can see Jupiter .. lots of other stars were visible.

I didn't try to capture the totality through the telescope, but it was mind blowing, maybe 10 viable red coronal mass ejections arrayed around the obscured disk.

Plus some unstructured time to play guitar and catch up on my reading, hard to beat :-).

My brother and I were down on Cape Cod doing some work on the family cottage. The nice neighbor across the street gave us some extra eclipse glasses she had, so we took a 90-minute break and went down to the beach to watch. Very cool experience. There were about 70 people there, and it was quite a festive crowd of friendly folks. We had 93% totality, so it didn’t go dark completely, but it did get pretty dim and the temperature dropped about 5 degrees. Very glad we went.

Daughter had great show in mid-Ohio.

We had completely overcast skies in Buffalo. The clouds made it darker though and the total darkness was impressive - especially the rapid return of daylight
