Default Headrush FRFR question

Does anyone use this powered cab? I want to use my acoustic through my pod HD500x. I have multiple electrics I use with the pod so this would just be convenient.

My main question is does the FRFR have phantom power on its xlr inputs? I would love to be able to play and sing through it.

I assume you want to use a condenser mic with it? It doesn't look like it has phantom power. Why not use an ART tube mic pre-amp for your condenser mic? It'll give you phantom power, lots of control for gain staging, and that cool tube warmth.

From Headrush FAQ (Link to FAQ):
Quote:
Should I use the TRS or XLR connection?

Both inputs are line-level, so either XLR or TRS can be used depending on your preference and the output type on your multi-fx/amp modeler. The TRS inputs will also accept TS input.

From the following graph from sweetwater, a Mic typical signal is 120 times weaker than a line-level source (XLR output of a Headrush pedalboard or gigboard).

So even if you used a phantom power external box between your mic and the headrush you'd hear nothing. You need a mic preamp (that might delivers phantom power if you need it)

PS: A voltage gain of 120 represents 41.58 dB gain in decibel scale. Such a gainis provided by any decent mic preamp (typically 55-60dB gain max).

You guys are great, thank you so much. I couldn't find anything through searching. I'm going to look into a mic preamp.

Thanks again!

Perhaps a better way to go would be to get a small mixer, run your HD 500X into and, and your mic off it. Then just patch it into the FRFR. You could get effects for your vocals that way if you get the right mixer. A Yamaha MG06X is a decent starting point.

I'll definitely look into that option as well.

That's how I run my solo rig - guitar and mic both into a Mackie ProDX and out to two Headrush 108's. It works well, the system is very portable (been thinking about just packing it all into a rubbermaid tub...), and sounds good.

I'm using a Zoom G1Four into a mixer into a Headrush 108 ...Dynamic Mic into a Mic-mechanic into the mixer(Mainly for the Reverb) since my mixer doesn't have effects into the Headrush

No the headrush has no phantom power on;y a mid cut and grounding switches
Works and sounds great!

I might buy a second Headrush for more of a Stereo sound...
