Default 2016 Jack Straw 000-NB (SOLD)

This is a custom ordered guitar from Bill Meyer at Jack Straw Guitars. I had it built in 2016. This is Bill's interpretation of the no longer available 000-18 Norman Blake built by Martin and praised by players. I have included the guitars specs including some comments from Bill in the attached photos. The Sinker Mahogany is from a 150 year old stash found at the bottom of a river in Belize. I can answer any questions concerning specs, and have a photo file of the entire build process. I also have some simple sound clips recorded on my I-pad that i can Dropbox to anyone via e-mail. The clips do NO real justice to the sound of this guitar which is amazing! The Blake-design of a 12-fret neck on a 14-fret 000 body gives so much power and clarity to the sound. Guitar has a Baggs Lyric installed.

I am letting this guitar go with great reluctance, but the "beefy" neck and 1 13/16" nut just no longer works with my aging hands!

Guitar has a Baggs Lyric. Collings HSC.

No trades at this time.

SOLD

Smile Suggestion...

Hey Terrapin

Have you contacted Bill Meyer, the builder? I would be tempted to ask if he could shave the neck!

It can be done, and if by the original builder it should not devalue the axe.

Just a thought. I would give it a try...

Hope you find something you like as much that fits your hands! I know the feeling as I am 67 and stuff hurts.

Cheers

Paul

Friday Bump! Thought about having the neck recarved, but I feel this big, beefy neck is an important part of the guitar’s mojo.

Default Neck Profile

What is the beefy neck profile like, c shape, or is it the v type neck the 000 28vs has?

This is not a V-neck. It is a full D-shape.

Thanks Russ,
I bet you are right that the shape of the neck gives it a distinctive voice.

When I had my Martin NB, I thought it was an amazing guitar and wished for one in mahogany. At that time I remember reading about this very guitar. Seems wonderful!

Default Jack Straw

I don't see the scale length in the guitar description, did I overlook that?
