My New Matt Shimala 00...with a soundclip
t would take a while to tell you all the time invested in the creation of this guitar but Matt Shimala is one of the most innovative luthiers I have ever come across. The guitar is basically L-00 is size, but that's where the similarities stop (although it is X braced. The top is sitka that I chose for it's glorious markings, the back and sides are curly black walnut. The fretboard is Macassar ebony, the top purfling is green abolone, rosewood, green abolone. The bridge is Brazilian rosewood. But enough about the specs...here's the guitar with a soundbite to give you an idea as to just how unique and magical the sound is.
Give a listen! |

The back looks like it's wearing a nice jacket, buttoned at one button

The 00 size can pack a punch with tone and volume. This is a beautoful instrument, nicely played. What was the tune?
