SCN pickups screw into threads on the pickup and mount to the pickguard not the body. If your import guitar didn't come with holes in the pickguard, I suggest drilling two holes in the guard and mounting them that way. That way you can adjust the pickup height with the screws without removing the pickguard. Otherwise you could drill out the studs in the pickup and mount it to the body.

You could use springs but the tubing works better. Less prone to vibrating and making noises you don't want. It's a soft rubber surgical tubing. I'm sure it could be bought other places, but I got a couple feet of it from Stewmac a couple years ago.

Not that it is a big deal but that Latex tubing (slightly yellow) eventually perishes. A good alternative now is silicon tubing (whitish) as it lasts a long time. You can get it from pet shops that sell aquarium gear.
EDIT. I get it off Ebay.

I would start with about 1/2". Kinda depends on how much your particular tubing will compress, but it seems it's common for it to be 3/8" or so. I don't actually measure it, but I probably should...

I just want to make sure I was being clear back there. Those aquarium places sell two types of tube, some of it is I think PVC it is clear and not very rubbery. The silicon tube is a little opaque and rubbery like the latex stuff.

Yeah...a 1/2" piece will compress to 1/4" or less.

OK. I'm gonna gut her! I want to replace the bridge and the electronics/pots...
for with the noiseless pickups. Suggestions?? I am looking at the parts houses and ebay and frankly don't know good from bad. I have a buddy that is the guitar tech on tours you have heard of. He's going to help with final set up (trading 16 homemade egg rolls for his help). I'd like to do the guitar set up right. Don? Anyone?? |

Anyone here...
Use 250k CTS pots and a .022uf capacitor Here's the diagram for the guitar those pickups came in: http://support.fender.com/service_di...0_02A_SISD.pdf You're probably gonna have a hard time finding an upgraded bridge that will fit that guitar easily. I would suggest maybe just upgrading the saddles.

If your guitar strings through the body rather than the back of the bridge you might have some other options, but even then...string spacing between import and USA is different so the string through holes wouldn't even line up. I've used these saddles from Guitar Fetish and they are nice, but they appear to be out of stock: http://www.guitarfetish.com/Upgrade-...Six_p_773.html
