Default DADGAD arrangement of Wild Mountain Thyme

old Scottish tune, aka 'Will Ye Go Lassie Go'

there are many versions including one by The Byrds.

I play it in DADGAD.....fourth tune on my website player

Very nice and lovely resonance...

The tune was actually only written in the 1950's and by an Irishman, Francis McPeake. It is the phrases, "Go, Lassie, Go," and 'bloomin heather,' that seem to date it as they are from a much older song. Also the confusion arises due to people recording it as Wild Mountian Thyme, Will You Go Lassie Go and even Purple Heather as both Van Morrison and Rod Stewart have...despite the word purple being in neither the ancient poem or McPeake's song...
