What an extraordinary instrument. Of course, Al brings out what it offers so well. Enjoy this beauty for years to come!
Best,
Jayne

Smile Going to work...

Greetings AGF and happy 2021 July Fourth to all!

Many thanks for coming along on this thread and all the nice comments.

This axe is going to work this month, as I go back to it! God willing and the crik don't rise, I have 8 gigs booked so far for July.

My heart always says play the Best Guitar You Have! unless it it is too dangerous. This being our latest it is also my BEST EVER!

Fortunately, my Senior and Healthcare gigs are not too dangerous! No flying beer bottles or chicken wire stage protection... hahaha. And folks really LISTEN, when they are awake. Sing too. A ton of research shows singing and laughing are really good for us all, and especially for elderly and infirm folks.

But I do have to watch out for dementia patients who want to drool on me. Kind of like playing for the raging drunks in Alaska when I think about it. Fortunately I am vaccinated and healthy anyway.

I often have elderly audience members say they were musicians when younger. We do tend to live longer!
And I have had a LOT of folks say my JKs are the most beautiful sounding guitars they have ever heard. I must agree!

Thanks John. Looking forward to the next one!

My current motto: I am old, I am vaccinated! Let's PARTY!!!

Cheers

Paul

Wow 🤩
Paul, congratulations on such an amazing instrument. Drop dead gorgeous and I have no doubt it possesses the tone to match. I fully believe that the stringed instruments being created by our gifted luthiers today are the most beautiful to ever exist!
John Kinnaird has most definitely created another masterpiece with this one. I love watching builds take form when you two are working together. We all benefit! Haha. Congrats again, buddy

Smile Thanks Memphis!

Hey Memphis, I am really glad to hear you continue enjoying the Big Gun!!!
Thanks for the nice comments!

So, it has been a bit humid here in San Diego lately and I have watched the action on this instrument creep up. I should have cased it with a couple humidi-paks sooner... oops.

A couple days ago I decided to take action, (so to speak, haha) and I used the neck adjustment widget that John designed so well. It was quite easy and worked great!

All I had to do was loosen the strings, loosen the two bolts on the neck accessible from the outside of the heel, and smoosh the neck upwards a bit. Very nice to not need to remove the string pins ! Tuning back up was a breeze

My action on the bass side went from 9/64 of an inch to my preferred just under 5/64 of an inch. And I could've moved it even lower.

My left hand is very happy! And so are the people i am playing for ...

Thanks John!

Tune UP often

Paul

Smile It happened again….

I played this acoustically at a nice upscale Senior Residence yesterday. Very appreciative audience!

Before I even played a couple folks commented that it was SO BEAUTIFUL….

and when I was done I got a bunch of questions about “Who built that instrument?” Which gave me a nice chance to brag on John!

And four or five folks said it was the loudest and most beautiful sounding acoustic guitar they had ever heard. This happens more often than not at these gigs…

This is what we aimed for!

They all laughed when I replied that, “Fortunately, even my mistakes sound better! Good thing since there’s plenty of them.”

But it is true. Hahahah

Thanks John

Cheers

Paul
