Default Any D-28 Bigsby owners?

Really loving the look of the new Martin D-28 Bigsby.
Anyone have one of these yet and can comment on the tone and playability of that neck?

I'm sure it sounds great, but that look is not for me. The headstock reminds me of Bob's Big Boy.

I finally played a used D-28 MT, from the first run of this model. That was a Madagascar rosewood/Adirondack build. The neck was of great interest to me. It was a narrow 1 10/16 nut. While the head stock shape is a bit much (a true Bigsby copy), I loved the feel, and sound. This version has the 1 3/4 nut (a good marketing choice), and standard woods. I'm surprised there was corporate interest in offering this model. I enjoy playing a conversation piece, and this certainly will invite comments!

Thanks for the feedback. I had to look up the MT model or Merle Travis model and I admit that I didn't really dig the pickguard so much on that one.... and that's kind of a strange nut width. Really glad that Martin is offering a much more accessible model in this newest one. I want one.

I have no desire whatsoever. Maybe its so mind blowing amazing I would forget about how the look makes no sense to me (Just a personal preference) No offense intended to anyone who thinks its awesome.

It just looks all kinds of wrong to my eyes.

It's not like they haven't done wild headstocks before.

I'll admit, as much as I liked the MT, that pick guard is horrible. Those crazy big pick guards were pure country, back in the day.

Is this supposed to be a version of Merle Travis' guitar? Good grief, J.R., for minute I thought you meant an acoustic with an ACTUAL Bigsby tailpiece/vibrato mechanism mounted on the face!!!

I'm still waiting for one of these to cross the pond. I played a couple of the 2008 models and loved them. They had the massive black scratch plate too if I remember rightly.

Pretty sure I saw a Gretsch with a Bigsby vibrato in recent years.

I actually built the prototype neck for the first run of these. I had the honor of taking measurements from Merle's guitar years ago and even made a few custom versions under the "Bresh" logo (Merle's son Thom Bresh)so I had everything and I offered to make a sample neck. The original pickguard was even bigger than the "big" one and had 2 scrolls and can be seen on his guitar in the movie "From Here to Eternity" while he sings "Reenlistment Blues" it was changed later to the one that looks like the headstock. Merle's neck was also 1.65 at the nut which you can see on older Fender guitars (Leo took measurements from Merle's guitar)

BTW, the original Bigsby tailpiece was also on a Travis guitar (Super 400) Thom always tells the story of how his dad told him "If you ever make a clock out of this guitar... save the tailpiece because it's probably worth something..."
