That's like saying that if you own a CF Martin T-shirt you can only play Martin guitars. It's like saying if you play Taylor you can only use Elixir strings.

My 1972 D35, while it sounds ok with Martin strings it sounds amazing with DR Sunbeam 12's and almost as good, but different, with D'Addario Nickel Bronze.

It all depends on how discerning your ear is and how fussy you need to be to achieve the satisfaction in sound you desire.

Martins Strings Only Sound Good On A Martin

I'll clarify. Martin strings may sound good on non-Martin guitars, so the title is questionable. But with non-Martin strings, all newer Martins definitely sound almost as bad as Taylor guitars. So the body of the post is partially absolutely factual, if one wants to believe it. And that's all that matters these days, right?

I understood perfectly well. Your post is just as silly, imo.

Should’ve known it would’ve turned into a Taylor bashing post with Martin in the title!

To further extrapolate, a Martin guitar is only at it's best when it has Martin strings on it and Martin Simpson is playing it. A Taylor guitar is at it's best when Taylor Swift or James Taylor is playing it.

I've often shuddered at the thought of Martin Taylor playing a Taylor with Martin strings on it..... A black hole would spontaneously appear and destroy us all....

Wow haha

I have two Gibsons and two Taylors that are all currently sporting Martin strings. Martin makes great strings that sound good on many different guitars.

Ridiculous, I totally disagree ...I use Martin PB's on my Martins, MIJ Takamines, two Lowdens, a Goodall, and an Avalon; they all sound wonderful with good ol' Martin M540's or MSP4200. AND I've used John Pearse, GHS and Dunlop PB's on my two Martins and they sound good too!!
