One minor concern. I see some of them relisted and used on the CME website, and there have been several in the last few months that have been listed with a repaired top crack.

Are these more prone to cracking than other guitars? I find it a bit shocking that someone would buy a new $4k guitar and not have at least some understanding of proper humidification.
I would not think so. But, it's shipping from Chicago and it's cold? Maybe a shipment from England got jostled? Some dude kept buying them and drying them out?

I went and pulled the trigger on an atkin 000-18 (essential) two years ago and its tone amazes me everytime. It blew away the similairly priced martin 000-18, but then it has some significant upgrades on the martin (aged top/pre war red spruce bracing/thin nitro finish).
A martin with these specs would have been astronomical!

I love that the tone is so consistent. Fluctuations in humidity have relatively little effect (at least here in the UK) courtesy of the aged top and bracing I suppose.

Incredible guitars, good to see them getting some love across the pond.

Nice. I didn’t realise that Atkin aged their wood - I thought it was just a tinted finish?

The Acoustic Shoppe carries Atkins and features them frequently on their YouTube channel. Just recently they compared a lot of high end Adi/Madi dreads. As a relative unknown brand, they are on the lower end of their market. I can't believe I just said that. It won't last long as they get established. They must be quite a value in the UK compared to US boutique brands.

I have an 00037 for a year now. I was looking for a Martin, but in Europe right now, they are quite expensive.
It slowly became the only one I'm playing, it's an amazing guitar.

I really like that headstock!

An Atkin thread pops up every now and again, and I always comment having essentially only played my LG47 since I bought it 2.5 years ago.

I won't repeat myself again, but just posted another recording with it on here:

I did a comparison video with a Gibson L-00 and a Martin 000-18 a couple of years ago. I will set one up with the Atkin.

Really nice timbre on that! Good playing too.

You’ve all inflicted serious GAS on me… I’m going to need to duck out this thread before I find myself three grand poorer.

Don't look at it as three grand poorer, but rather one extremely nice guitar richer.

Oops… you caught me still keeping an eye on this thread.

Sadly I can’t afford it right now. Maybe next time I get a promotion at work I’ll get an Atkin (by which point they’ll probably be four grand ).

I've owned three old Gibsons over the years as I hold the belief that a good one would be the only guitar I need (ha ha). But I've sold each one after awhile as they haven't quite done it. So imagine how sad I am that my Atkin 47 doesn't have Gibson on the headstock...but it really does seem to fulfill that dream of just one guitar. It's more or less the only one I play now. It really feels like my old Gibsons, lovely and light, brilliant neck and the sounds leaps off it. I'm just praying it doesn't go off or calm down.

Not absolutely sure I can part with my j45 though....time will tell I suppose
