Default Help Identifying This Guitar

I'm trying to specifically figure out what this guitar is and figured this was the best place to ask for help.

Here's the link of Coldplay's Chris Martin playing in on Conan:

My best guess is that it is a Martin HD-28 without the pickguard and basic electronics. But, I'm not sure what the wood is due to the lighting. Could it be the normal East Indian Rosewood backing and Sitka Spruce top?

Thanks in advance for any ideas!

It looks like a Martin D-28 to me, Indian rosewood and probably a Sitka spruce top, with Grover Rotomatic tuners. It might be an HD-28, but I couldn't tell whether it has the herringbone purfling that's the trademark of that model: the resolution of my computer screen isn't good enough to tell.

So either a D-28 or an HD-28, and a somewhat older one made before Martin switched to using open gear vintage-style tuners on those models.

I'm pretty certain that the stickers on the top aren't factory stock....

Hope this helps.

Thanks for the help!! Attached is a better photo of what I think is the same guitar. Definitely does look like a D-28 rather than an HD-28--a spruce top as well. Any ideas on the type of spruce or is that too difficult to assume?

Here's the photo:

Why does this grown man have all these stickers on his guitar?

Anyway, Will, Sitka spruce is what comes factory stock on D-28's, so it's unlikely to be any other species of spruce.

Sounds like an old Italian hit song from the 1950's, Volare, but after the chorus where they sing Nel blu dipinto di blu.

Yes, it's a Martin D-28 with stickers.

That’s the CF Martin D-28 Limited Edition Chris Martin Signature Infantile Model.

It comes with no pickgaurd. But you get a set of stickers that you can “install” yourself. I’m fond of the bunny and Hello Kitty options myself.

Only bright colors. Muted colors are sonically transparent.
