Default Fender Acoustic 100 - Any thoughts?

Hi all,

For some time now i've been eyeing up an AER Compact 60 Mk4 amp, but have seen some videos and read some reviews of the Fender Acoustic 100 which seems to be a nice alternative option.

At £890 the AER is noticably more expensive than the Fender (£339), which would suggest it's the 'better' amp, presumably it has better components and speakers? However, I'm not sure i'd really notice the difference if i'm really honest.

Anyone have any opinions or thoughts on the Fender acoustic amps? They don't seem to get much mention on AGF. I will test them both out in due course but wondered what the collective wisdom here knows about these amps.

I think this is a much more versatile alternative: QSC CP8 + Soundcraft Notepad8FX

I gigged for a little over a year with a Fender Acoustic 100 and it is a really nice sounding amp for rooms that are small and relatively quiet. I was also playing some outdoor gigs and it just didn't have the power for those without the sound breaking up. If you get over about 1/2 volume it's going to break up and distort, under that it is fabulously warm and clear. It just didn't work for patio gigs and louder rooms. I sold it and bought the big Fishman Loudbox Performing Artist which sounds great and has enough power to play any size room or patio. So really it all depends on what you need it for. I also use a Bose L1 Compact for rooms that I need to fill with sound over sheer volume so I wish I would have gone with a Bose S1 amp instead of the Fishman. But at the time the Bose amp hadn't been released.

Default Acoustic 200

There is a more powerful 200 watt model for about a $150.00 more. It has 2 "8 speakers instead of the 1 in the 100 model

I played through one last week at a GC. It sounded lovely. If I needed an acoustic amp, I would strongly consider it. However, I would need to try out the vocal channel first.

I own the 100 version and I think it is the perfect home amp, especially if jamming with friends or over a base. Gigging with it? Hmm... maybe only if it is from time to time. Power is enough also with 100 version but it is not really road proof. It looks good in the living room though..

OK. Here's where I demonstrate my lack of knowledge.

Do you plug directly into the speaker replacing the amp?
Do you need a mixer?
Thanks.
