I ordered one of those crazy marked down Guild D1212s last Thursday. It arrived a couple hours ago...it's got a darker finish than the "natural" look in all the ads I've seen...man this thing jangles...lots of volume too...haven't A/B'ed it w/the 25 yet, but it's a welcome member of the stable...

Got a newbie question (not really a noob, but this is the first time I've had to deal w/this): the end pin is in a Ziploc bag; does it just push in?

Bottom line is, did not really need it, but really glad I got it...

Congrats, I have one from another forum member, who purchased it on the Sweetwater deal.
It's been a great guitar, easy to play, stays in tune, fulfills my need for a 12 string.
Enjoy yours for years , sorry I can't be of any help on the endpin, mine was already in.

You might try some Martin Retros on it

This is not uncommon... they leave it uninstalled to prevent the endpin from crushing the end of the body while in transit. It should push right in.

I got the F-1512 and the situation was the same. just pushed it in with my fingers, hasn't been a problem at all.

If you think you might ever install a pickup then leave the endpin out in case you need to install an input jack. Otherwise, simply begin to install the pin, then holding it losely 'stand the guitar' on the floor and raise it an inch and let it fall, (repeatedly) to gently tap it into place.

I would not tap it. Pushing it in firmly is all that it needs. If you can easily pull it out, you didn't install it firmly enough.

Maybe I don't have a very refined ear, but if I had gotten this first I probably wouldn't have gotten the D25...nothing against it at all, but to my ears the 1212 can hang w/the big dogs...I suspect I'll be keeping them both...

These import Guild 12s are great guitars, the F-1512 I have is a total canon.

I've been very happy with it, but it did need setup work, it had "issues", all resolved after it was addressed however.
