I have a song that has a verse about a wholesale druggist in my hometown playing a huge part in the massive prescription-opioid addiction problem in West Virginia. In the version that plays on college radio in my hometown, the line is,
"... 'Bout a mile from the old Lamplighter Motel... HD Smith has an order to fill." Because people there know about the Lamplighter. And I think it sounds cool. Not necessarily in that order. But on college and micropower radio in W. Virginia, it's "... In the town where Lincoln lies cold and still... HD Smith has an order to fill." Even if folks don't exactly know where that it is, they'll reckon it's somewhere far away from W. Virginia. I hope. Here's the song, if you're interested. |
