Default Awesome pair of 37 D's - Eye and Ear Candy - guitar related of course!

At MartinFest last Friday I stopped and picked up an old guitar and started jamming around a bit with someone else sitting there holding another old guitar on an old fiddle tune called Blackberry Blossom. It turns out the guitars were from Bob Hamilton's pre-war collection - a 1937 D 18 (blue shirt) and a 1937 D 28 (red shirt). Maury Rutch of Maury's Music was wandering around with a camera and shot this video. Too bad my technique does not bring out the full sound of the D 28, it is an awesome guitar! Not shown is a long-scale '34 000 28 that was also in the area.

You should check out next year's MartinFest over at UGMF. Bob Hamilton and Todd Yates bring some of the most amazing pre-war Martins, along with several other folks - and they are very generous in allowing attendees play them. Then you know what the pre-war buzz is about. Song circles, jams, and open mics a plenty and sometimes special guest artists like Lawrence Juber or Jack Lawrence.

Here is a peek at some of Bob's pre-war D 28's. This does not include some amazing D 18's, OM and 000 models.
