JW might not be happy because there is not Cocobolo choice on there. It was a tough call between Koa and BZ RW

I think if anybody played mine (which I wouldn't let them!), they would change their vote to Brazilian!

I agree with with you taylorman. My first was a Koa, hince the nave Christian Koa. But Should cnage over to Christian BZ RW after I boutht my custom 510BZ. What a tone wood! But Koa is great too. I did play one of those cocobolos, nice but extremly heavy!! Great sound though, right up there with BZ RW and Koa IMO.

There's nothing that sounds like a great Brazilian ... and I've been having Brazilian in my brain lately ... and you all know why.

Of course, I think koa sounds heavenly ... and maple rings bright ... and ziricote and cocobolo are becoming favorites ...

Taylorman,

What I think we have here are guitarists who are happy with the tonewood they have, or have ownded in the past. If you have never owned or played (extensively) a high-end guitar in Brazilian, you really can't respond effectively. I think the poll reflects the tastes of the guitars currently used or maybe 'tasted'. East Indian is a nice tonewood, but "I knew Brazilian, and East Indian is no Brazilian"!

Perhaps a better poll might include responding ( on a scale of 1-5 or 1-10)to the tonewoods you have owned and or played (extensively) over the years. Needs and venues played being equal, those who have owned a Brazilian and Mahogany could vote Brazilian 9, Mahogany 7, etc. It would be an interesting poll. Just my thoughts.

East Indian is no Brazilian? Really now, could that be true? You know, there's got to be a reason that you keep hearing "XXX sounds just like Brazilian." That includes Ziricote, Madagascar Rosewood, Honduras Rosewood, and others have slipped my mind. However, I have yet to play one that has the resonance and complex tones of a great Brazilian ... not saying they aren't out there, but I just haven't found it yet.

Now, I've played Brazilians that do nothing for me ... and I've played East Indian that blew my mind ... But when I sit down to play at home, the ones taken out the longest are Brazilian ... closely followed by koa.
