Default tuning down and playing with others

So, if I'm tuned down a whole step and play, for instance, a song using C chord shapes can a friend play, in standard tuning, C shapes along with me and it work? I know I can capo up two frets and be in sync but how does this work in reverse? Thanks so much!

Your friend can capo the third fret and play a G shape.
