My chin got its last shave in 1997, the morning of my 20-year military retirement. Whiskers ever since.

Goatee and 'stache are kept under control every 2 weeks with a #4 guard on a Harbor Freight electric buzzer clipper (in the dark on the back porch). Cheeks and neck below the goat get a close shave probably 3 times a week, or "as needed for special occasions" (anything requiring a pair of Sunday pants).

Pro tips:
Walgreen's sells "Studio 35" triple-blade house-brand refills that fit the Mach 3 handle for a small fraction of Gillette's rapacious retail price. They work the same and last as long or longer.

Shaving with soap or shampoo in a hot shower with a $10-13 suction-cup wall-mount mirror makes even a 4-day growth with an old, dull blade a smooth, painless process. So-called "fog-free" mirrors are (simply) not. But a hand-held shower head clears that problem and blasts whisker buildup from the razor.

Thank me later.

Every day for me. For one I don't feel good about myself when I don't shave and two shaving it off then becomes painful. But I use an electric shaver. I always have and my beard isn't heavy or light.

Hey Doug,

For 30 years, I wore professional clothes, kept my hair cut short and shaved everyday. Now, with my new line of work, I wear t-shirts most days, am growing my hair longer (trying to anyways), and shave 3 days a week. My skin is much happier.

Daily, while I was working....

Since retirement, I'll go 2 - 4 days before getting the razor out.

Never thought I could grow a beard. COVID proved me wrong. Haven't shaved in almost 2 years. Also, I've only gotten 1 haircut in 2 years.

Born in the 50's and a child of the 60's, I'm reliving the hippie years. My wife likes it and I have only had to show up once for my job since March 2020. I quit displaying my video on TEAMS calls, claiming bandwidth issues. Looking at retirement in 2 or 3 years. I could ride this (work at home, no shaving or haircut) all the way there.

Maximum of once a day, minimum of every 3 days or so.

I shave 6 times a week usually. Usually one weekend day I don't. I don't scruff on my face. It feels uncomfortable.

I shave every day. I keep a goat because my wife likes it. I do okay full growth when extended hiking or camping but I HATE the in-between, scruffy stage. After struggling with razor burn and rashes I went to an electric razor.

I grew my beard and hair at the start of lockdown intending to go for the full Gandalf. However, I just couldn't get on with the beard and 'tache. I got rid of the facial fur after a few weeks and now I shave every morning without fail.

I shave every single morning, pretty much on schedule. It's rare that I skip a day, and that's usually when we are traveling and when it's really inconvenient for others for me to get in the way.

When I don't shave, I feel grubby. I have very curly, very coarse hair, and my beard really irritates me if it gets long at all. Also, every morning when I come downstairs and give my wife a hug, she puts her face right up against mine, cheek to cheek, and it's about the best feeling in the world. I hope I get to keep doing that for a long time.

- Glenn
