FOUND this custom mystery at a drum shop, does anyone have a clue?
A few months ago I was on a hunt for a resonator. I stopped at a local drum shop that does trades on used drum equipment. I found this beautiful guitar, nobody there knew anything about it. There are no serial numbers anywhere. Just a steel (maybe nickel) body with beautiful inlays.
I have searched and searched aaaaand searched for anything similar and can't find one. If anyone knows anything about this guitar or even has an opinion please let me know. Thank you in advance. |

Wow that is one unique looking instrument. I wonder if there is anything inside, under the pickups or the like that might give you a hint. Out of curiosity, how much did you have to part with to own this beauty?

Have you removed the neck, that might be another location for more info. As the metal back looks to be engraved, are there any markings in the patterns? From the images so far and if the guitar plays well, someone took care in the building of this instrument.

The only thing it looks close to is a guitar my teacher described he was waiting on once upon a time. He had a custom resonator with no cone cover so he could palm mute the strings. He told me was waiting on an electric of the same design but, with one P-90. I think he said the maker was out of florida which would explain the palm tree. I can't remember the name on the head stock. I want to say it was Billy or Breilly or Brilly. Good luck. How does it sound/play? I'll give you $20 for it.

I did come across this site:
http://www.engravedguitars.com/ I don't know anything about them... but it seems like even if it isn't one of theirs they might recognize the work of someone else...

Lots of clues in this thread: http://forums.musicplayer.com/ubbthr...entify_this_gu
He was trying to identify this guitar: Looks like it was made in the same factory as a similar Dean and Galvaston Last edited by DavidE; 03-07-2017 at 12:28 PM. |

From that thread:
"However the etching on the back is Identical to the etching on the Dean Chrome G Resonator, also the neck inlays." http://i864.photobucket.com/albums/a...en/rescg10.jpg http://i864.photobucket.com/albums/a...len/rescg9.jpg http://i864.photobucket.com/albums/a...len/rescg6.jpg |
