You need to go here and ask that question again.

http://macnichol.com/forum

Several there have Blackbird nylon Riders and also several have custom nylon OMs built by Blackbird.

I owned one for 2 weeks. It is the only guitar that I have bought that I didn't like and I have bought quite a few. I thought the tone was " foreign and metallic". I simply hated it.

I was reluctant to ever buy another Carbon fiber instrument but found that I liked a Rainsong WS-1000 steel string and have one.

My only other nylon string guitar is an Alhambra "Luthier Rio", although I am having Tom Bills build a G2 nylon string for me in Brazilian/German Spruce.

Default Blackbird Rider Nylon

I've had one now since mid July and I love it. Here's a review I wrote in harmony central. Here are some recordings I did with it.

The fundamentals are great: good tone, balance, volume. It's my go too guitar right now.

Wow...sounds great with playing to match Chris. Is it like the steel rider being a bit clumsy while playing on the lap? What mic's did you use?

FWIW, I played a Nylon rider for a little concert at the Blackbird workshop last month and had a lot of fun with it. Clear/clean voice, responds well to right hand dynamics and tone change (warning—I'm very much a classical player in terms of technique).

It was also surprisingly loud and responded well to being plugged in. A fun little guitar, wouldn't mind owning one

I use two Rode M3's in X-Y configuration plugged into a Mackie Blackjack. The guitar is about 2 feet from the mics. Blackbird provides a "Neck Up" strap for $25 that positions the guitar perfectly on your leg. With the strap the guitar is in a better ergonomic position compared to regular classical guitars. I used to get middle backs aches frequently using a regular guitar. Not so much now with the Blackbird.

I dont know if the guitar was played plugged in, or not,,
It sounded pretty good, but this Chis Screven is a very
good player, and i think thats a big part of it.

Hi. The Blackbird recording was not plugged in. It was recorded with two Rode M3's from around 2 ft in X-Y configuration. I added a little reverb to fill out the room. Otherwise there was no processing. I'll have to say the tonal balance of this guitar is among the best I have experienced. Some people may not like the overall timbre. It's a matter of taste..cedar, spruce, carbon, etc. I like the carbon because the tonal balance is more accurate but it's not as warm as most wood guitars. Plugged in it will do in combo settings but has some piezo quack which I can't take for recording.

Hey..thanks for the critique

Chris
