In the left corner, out of site, is a 54" shofar! Now we're talking party!

I posted somewhere else - I have a Rainsong Classical, 12 fret, Fishman active matrix pickups. Had it for 14 years now. I love it!

Ted, any updates or progress? I am still very much ready to purchase a nylon 12 fret (parlor or shorty body size, prefer unidirectional top if possible)...

This thread has been quiet, but hope there is still interest!! - Ken

I have the RainSong Nylon prototype. I am playing it this morning and fall in love more every time I play it. It needs more volume, and I am sure Ted and Ashvin will come up with a solution. I can't wait to plug it in at Kramsters house this week! Oh Kramster, when can I come over?!!!

Lisa,

Exciting!

Do you think that a bigger box would help (e.g. an OM body instead of a parlor body)?

Yes, I think a Shorty body would be ideal, IMHO. I also think a soundport on the Parlor models would be very beneficial for more volume. The nut width is also very comfortable, and clearly not a 2 inch one. So its a modern nylon and I am sure it will sound great amplified.

The 14 fret is not as awkward as I thought it might be. It really works.

Well, *I* like the idea of a parlor-sized parlor, and that one can hopefully enjoy the sound that the small guitar produces.

A nylon string Shorty would be nice, too...but it wouldn't be a parlor.

I also like the idea of a soundport.

Larry,

I have never owned a parlor so this a new experience for me! I think that I probably should not put the same expectations on the Parlor as my Shorty. The Shorty has a BIG sound. That being said, I think that RainSong could get more out of this nylon parlor. I am not sure a 12 fret will work with nylon, but that being said, many of their guitars have found a very very sweet spot with a 12 fret configuration.

Yes, and please note that this guitar is not their ready-for-release product. They may decide to tweak construction/design specs to make the guitar more responsive, etc.

One cannot supersede the laws of physics, of course...and generally speaking, the smaller the guitar, the smaller the voice...especially given the same materials, etc.

"I would be curious as to why the RainSong WS9000 was discontinued"

I really couldn't say why, but my WS9000 reportedly sat on a store shelf in Kentucky for four years before I bought it - which amazes me every time I pick it up and love it.

I have always wanted a WS9000, just discovered them about the time that Rainsong stopped making them. Anybody know of any for sale? Or is it maybe better to wait and see what new nylon string products Rainsong comes up with?

I like the looks of the Rainsong parlor nylon as is. Is the neck flat or radiused? My only wish would be for another fret or three on the first three strings.

I am spoiled having 24 frets on my Parker Spanish Fly, as well as 24 frets on the custom nylon Emerald that Alastair made for me in 2008 or 2009.
