Default Humidity questions

I was keeping my Martin Junior at work until I realized the 27% humidity in my office warped it. When I got home this morning I measured the living room where I keep my 110 on a stand. It was 55%, I think I’m going to leave the Martin at home and take the 110 to work. I work every other day for 3 24 hour shifts then 4 days off. I plan on leaving it up there for the 6 days then bringing it home for the 4 days off. Will the 110 be ok for that time period with humidifiers in the soft case?

Generally yes but you can leave it there in a gig bag or case with a humidifying device in the case. I wouldn't leave it out while I wasn't there to watch it.

It depends on what the humidity and temp levels are during the period the guitar is there.

I have low humidity at home frequently but I've mitigated it by putting my guitars in their cases, using SensorPush hygrometers and plenty of humidipaks. The closet where I store my guitars is about 35% at worst, but the in-case readings are in the sweet spot, 45-50%.

I have one guitar that only has a gig bag. But it has 6-7 humidipaks in it and it's right around 50%.

So you might keep in mind you'll need more humidifiers for the gig bag.

A gig bag loses humidity about twice as fast as a typical hard case - the zipper is porous. For example, if you need to re-wet a damp sponge in your case weekly, in a gig bag that will be twice weekly.

Yes that’s why I have many humidipaks in there. I use only the packets because if i still relied on wetting sponges I would be doing that daily.

SensorPush.

I’m full of stupid questions, but I’m learning. What would be better for low humidity, solid Martin in a hard case or laminate Taylor in a gig bag?

The laminated Taylor still has a solid top (they don't make anything with laminated tops) so either guitar in a hard case would be your best bet for maintaining the humidity. A gig bag would be second best, by a long ways.
