so the K&K has 3 sensors, one between each 2 strings. E-A, D-G and B-E.
But the Hifi is meant to install with only 2 sensors between the low E and A and between the high E and B. Wouldnt that mean the D and G strings aren't getting picked up as much as the other 4 strings? I just bought this pick up to install in my custom shop guitar and I'm curious how that works. Are the mids weaker than the lows and highs with this pickup? |

Mine's dead even across all 6 strings.

I don't know about the Baggs specifically, but I've installed a bunch of 2 head piezo SBT's in many instruments (K&K and JJB). A couple years back I started using 3 head SBT's in my guitars (JJB). I personally can't tell any difference.

Not sure if there's anything to this, but the K&K typically needs a reduction in the mids to sound good. I always associated the three transducers with added mid range. The two transducer approciate seems to be clearer from the get go but there's no issue with the D & G strings sounding weaker.

Note that Trance and Dazzo both use 2 sensors very much like the HiFi and have been using this approach for ages, with no balance issues. It's all in the design.

It works great and even across strings. Same as Trance Amulet, which it appears based on.

I've also been curious as to the effect of two versus three sensors. I have a JJB with three 15mm discs on my Eastman OM, and one with two 20mm discs on my cittern which covers a similar range to guitar. The cittern requires noticeably less EQ tweaking in the mids, which makes me wonder how a two sensor pickup would fare on guitar. It seems like if the string balance can be managed, fewer sensors might mean less of the complex phasey midrange artifacts.

My two LR Baggs HiFi installations and two Trance Amulet M-VT installations have even-sounding, string-to-string output signal balance. No complaints.
