T.I.N.Y. 2023

Yesterday was one of those glorious September days in New England that was sunny, dry and in the mid 70s F (23-24 C for my Celsius friends). The party was casual and went from midday to around 9 pm at night and was attended by a variety musicians, guitar makers and guitar enthusiast hobbyists like me.

The event was both inside and outside with guitars and people playing them (or talking about them) no matter where you found yourself. I brought a Sexauer and a Franklin. John had everyone in the outside circle of players who brought a guitar present their guitar and tell its story and play it a bit. I was able to sample 4 different Kim Walkers (3 SJs and a L00), John’s vintage Gibsons, a number of Circas, and some Flammang flattops. I was also able to take a a Dupont Petite Bouche, a 1943 D’Angelico archtop, Gilchrist and Parker archtops for a spin.

Add to this some world class New Haven pizza, gracious hosts, passionate guitarists and it was guitar heaven…

What a lovely day! I drove down through Eastern CT (and picked up an 1800's Cuban mahogany table on the way which will yield many future guitars ) and it was one of those perfect New England Fall days that are sunny and dry and it felt incredible driving through lush green open spaces. I usually treasure this experience driving out to Woodstock too so maybe I'll get it twice this year.

TINY was incredible, John and fam were the most gracious hosts and invited an incredible group and fed us very very well. I got to see friends both near and far, highlighted by getting to hang with Juston who I'd only ever met in person once many years ago. A thousand texts later and we get to see each other again!

I met some people I've always wanted to and met some others I didn't know I wanted to but am very glad I did. In short, a perfect Fall afternoon.

Thanks to the incredible JT, who is a people magnet of the highest order. I hope we get to do it all again next year! Hopefully I'll have a guitar ready to bring if we do.

This is not a guitar show in the sense that folks sell stuff or buy tickets to attend. It's just me asking my guitar-obsessed friends to spend an afternoon at my home. You're welcome.

Hello, all.

I've received a bunch of lovely inquiries about next year's T.I.N.Y. Thank you.

First, the silly title represents my homage to Tom's B.I.G. I attended the first. A wonderful event.

Second, folks have asked about tickets to T.I.N.Y. There are not nor will there ever be tickets. The event is my hang with my friends. You can't pay to attend and you can't contribute money to the food/libations costs. It's my party and I will always pay for everything.

Third: luthiers. Yeah, when you can gather Kim Walker, Ken Parker, John Slobod, Burton LeGeyt, and Phil Brunwin at your event, folks might assume that luthiers can offer their wares at the event. Nope. No sales. No displays. These folks are my friends. Again, it's just a hang. Yep, it will happen next year. And, yep, a couple of more luthiers, folks at the pinnacle of their craft and the market, have committed to attend. But, nope, it will not be a guitar show. It will again be my party where I provide food, libations, a dozen or so of the world's rarest guitars, and I'll again host the world's best luthiers. And, yes, I'm a lucky guy.

That sounds so much better than a show. You'll get to know people, which is important to me. And can hear clearly and be relaxed, never worried about missing something scheduled.

You assembled a class act, and the folks attending should be proud to be included among august company. At least I sure would be.
