Default Redeye

With all the new stuff out there, is anyone still using the redeye preamp on their rig?

The RedEye is still a solid, well designed unit. That said, my SunnAudio pre is a bit warmer and has a wider frequency range. That comes at a cost of larger size. Since I use Dazzos in everything, I have no need of a tone control.

I'd guess the RedEye still sounds better than most of the consumer grade pres out there, buy maybe you need four bands of EQ to make your K&K sound good.

Ditto on the SunnAudio. I've had both the Sunn and the RedEye and much prefer the Sunn. I use it for Dazzos and K&K. I like having the boost, mute, effects loop, and sweepable mid control.

I have the Redeye and it seems to work well with my K&Ks. Also have an Orchid muting DI, which seems to work equally well, and the mute function is probably more useful to me than the boost. If I were starting over or needed another DI for some reason, I’d likely pickup the Sunnaudio since it seems to have a lot more functionality, but for now I have no complaints with the Redeye.

My K&K-equipped Iris OG sounds so great through my RedEye Twin, I don't feel any urge at all to upgrade to something else. Heck, I barely need to touch the EQ on my mixer, and it sounds great.

My Red-Eye sounds great with any soundboard transducer - equipped guitar I own (Dazzo, UltraTonic, Schatten HFN, K&K). If you think you'll need some more EQ at hand, the SunnAudio Prestine would be the right choice IMO.
In louder environments I found HPF (high pass filtering) really helpful with any SBT, in low to medium volume situations I do not need any EQ at all.

I still use my RedEye for my violin (fiddle), the original use case. It is the least fussy way of having my needs met, which is very valuable to me.

I have multiple guitars with K&K Trinity systems, and I use the K&K preamp on my board first, then tuner, reverb, and then a RedEye. The RedEye was the easiest way for me to get a boost and DI in one.

I like that I can generally leave the settings alone on the K&K preamp and use the treble adjustment on the RedEye to tweak things between different guitars. I haven't tried it on its own so i can't comment on how it actually handles a pickup alone.

Since I became a Dazzo/Sunnaudio convert, I have been getting a lot of compliments on my guitar tone.

I've had the Dazzo/Sunnaudio in every guitar I own. Given the SBT passive constraints, I think it rules. Have I tried anything else after my first Dazzo set? No.I'm not going to fool with the dual system/battery on board concept. No muss, no fuss, sounds good.

I still use my redeye 3 out of 4 gigs. Easy and great trumps complex and more great.

I wish the sold the Red Eye pedal in the UK . I brought a used one from an American man who was living in the UK . Mine eventually broke because of wear and tear playing in all types of weathers
I might order one from the USA

Can't you have it repaired? Looks fixable to me. All discrete components... Your Tube amp repair man will handle it easily.
