There's something to this idea, and I've only roughly/partially done something like this. I could (should?) do more.

Let me expand the scope to folks discussing what heirs will do with such a list. One might also need these sets of information on that list if you have to report a theft or if you have an insurance claim after some disaster/fire etc. There are several birds that one might hit with one such rock.

Most of my music stuff is low value, which is why I haven't taken the time. Some of it probably would be refused if I'd take to a place that sells used instruments or equipment, because it's odd-ball and not in much demand. Which is why I haven't buckled down. But a few things are already marked as having some resale value, even if they aren't valuable collectors instruments with high valuations.

Smile Sell it now?

Maybe sell a bunch of this stuff now? I keep buying a guitar occasionally, but I have sold a bunch of gear and guitars over the last 20 years.

I am 72 now and only semi retired from a very fun life of gigging for my living.

Fortunately my beautiful wife has her own moolah, and almost as much musical gear as I do. Especially a beautiful Yamaha studio upright piano.

I have been contemplating making Reverb Listings for a bunch more gear. I understand you do not need to list at any particular time, and can do it when you wish.

That way my beneficiaries can activate the listings. I think! Hahah

Good thread, and great subject

Cheers

Paul

Well since we have very little control over outcomes even while in this life, (except for controlling our perspective of them) It could be kind of pointless to attempt to control or influence outcomes beyond this life

That said ::
Like Jim 1960 I simply have a list of gear and guitars and what they retailed for when I bought them. What ever my wife and or daughter decide to do with them after I am gone, will not have any meaning to me once I am in the big by and by

I also have an inventory that includes what I paid and about what I think it’s worth…. They can decide from there.
