Default LAST WEEKEND ON AGF: Keisuke Fujii OM Alaska “Blue” Sitka Spruce / Figured Mahogany

Hi all, offering for sale a unique OM from a prominent builder in Japan, Keisuke Fujii, who is picking up some steam here. By way of some lineage, he worked for a guitar manufacturer in Japan before studying with Steve Marchione and striking out on his own. Dream Guitars has recently been carrying his guitars, and the last two went quite swiftly.

This one features an Alaskan “Blue” Sitka top, from float logs reclaimed from an Alaskan boat house. Over time they mineralized, and shows a dark blue color. Past the pictures at the bottom, is Collings’ more detailed and eloquent explanation about the material. It’s paired with a nicely figured set of Honduran mahogany, and makes for an aesthetically and sonically pleasing combination.

My favorite aesthetic detail of his guitars is the mosaic rosette. Beautifully designed and executed. Also of note is the truss rod cover, a sculpture!

-25 3/8” scale
-1.75” nut
-Slight V profile
-2.2” spacing at saddle
-Gold EVO frets

Just a really beautiful guitar. I thought I would give it a shot here before sending it on consignment, or possibly just keeping it, which was initially the plan. I think I am finding I just like bigger or smaller bodies than OM when it comes to steel.

Thanks for looking and any questions please feel free.

More about the top:
"Throughout much of the 20th century, Southeast Alaska’s sheltered bays and coves were home to a large number of floating structures that supported the area’s fish trapping and logging industries. These camps were built upon long Sitka spruce logs that spent over half a century floating in the saltwater, being towed from place to place as the weather and waters allowed.

But as the need for these structures dwindled in recent decades, the camps were either sold for “float house living” or purchased for salvage. In the latter case, it was discovered upon disassembly that, due to decades of floating in the saltwater, boards cut from many of the spruce logs had taken on a dark bluish/greyish hue.”

That is one beautiful guitar! The woods are top notch, & I love his workmanship; bridge, fretboard extension, etc. GLWS!

Hi, 15 1/4” at the lower bout, and from 3 3/8” to just over 4 1/4” from heel to tail.

I have an OM Mahogany from Keisuke Nishi (Keystone guitar), a luthier peer from the same country as Keisuke Fujii. Both seem to collaborate on a few projects together.

I love it so much that I have to buy a second guitar from him.

I have not tried Fujii guitar, but I bet it is lovely as well.

GLWS.
