Smile Might have been more…

Yep, at least a foot, maybe closer to 14”. My head was only a couple feet away and I saw it all in slo-mo like a car accident…. Quite unnerving and scary.

But it sure took that licking and kept ticking!

I gig it often and am always pleased!

Thanks John

Paul

I really like the tenon construction on your neck here. Ive concidered a similar design. I currently drill out the area where my neck bolt insersts go and replace it with maple, so that my inserts are in solid hard maple and not threading into laminates. Great idea to dovetail it as well.

Nothing like a little consensual validation from a fellow builder to bolster confidence in a design element. I appreciate you dropping by.

⅝rPurfling will be a wooden half herringbone with elements of the rosette. Here is the layup log

Cutting some diagonal segments

Tedious work of fitting the segments into the channel that was formed around a strip on .047 teflon.

It looks like it would be very tedious. But it also looks like your work will pay back big dividends. As usual, your build is looking very nice.

Default Purfling done

I have not shot any mineral spirits on this yet. Just waiting till the sound port is in.
Ebony bindings, with one of my all time favorite purfling, fiddleback mahogany.

A little shop made purfling for the top with bias cut

Beautiful work here, John--you've made me a fan of the fiddleback mahogany purfling as well!
