Thought day one was busy, well then there was day 2!
We started the day by bending and installing the back linings, kerfed reversed linings. GB day 2 a.jpg Then I got to use my favorite tool and jig to cut out the sound hole which is way cool. GB day 2 b.jpg Then I cut out the rough shape of the top, not being a hero, cowards are rewarded in this shop! gb day 2 c.jpg Thicknessing the top, I took it a bit thinner then planned, but hey, it is either gonna implode or it will be very responsive! I am hoping for the latter. gb day 2 d.jpg You have heard of Man vs. Food, this is my version of Man vs. Go-bar... gb day 2 e.jpg Man Won!!! gb day 2 f.jpg

OK, definitely not my favorite task. The sides are cut proud, no heroes allowed at the bandsaw, unfortunately that means the sides have to be sanded down to match the radius of the back in this nifty little jig run by human power. Good luck to you if you have a rotator cuff injury!
gb day 2 h.jpg Here I am using a chisel to carve the back braces, I did OK, but a little nerve racking. I passed the test as no blood was drawn on mine nor anyone else's fingers or hands. gb day 2 j.jpg Next up was the second stage of top braces, the finger braces, the sound hole braces and a center joint reinforcement piece. gb day 2 k.jpg OH GUESS WHAT? There is a TOP AND A BOTTOM to a guitar, I got to do it again!!!! If I am not mistaken, over my groans of pain, I think I heard Ryan laughing. gb day 2 l.jpg Next up was rough cutting the peghead to size. I am being watched by Steve closely. I think I have proven myself a bit to Ryan, I had not worked with Steve too much yet, so he is paying close attention to what I am doing. I think I passed, I am pretty sure he was impressed by my one handed technique LOL! gb day 2 m.jpg Drilling holes for the tuners. gb day 2 n.jpg

So after lining up the back and marking where the braces would by laying across the lining with a dental pick, I used a router to remove the lining to allow the braces to fit down into the lining and for the back to be glued to the sides.
gb day 2 o.jpg The end of day two culminated into the aforementioned back being glued in and tortured with a series of rubber bands and a few clamps just to show it who is the boss. A lot of work done today, but very satisfying as well. Supposed to have a closed box by the end of tomorrow which means someone has to carve those top braces, I have a feeling that might just be me, Yikes! gb day 2 p.jpg Thank you Billie for the great lunches so far!!!

Go, Tom, Go! Looking sweet. Responsive is our wish for you, Sir.
Maybe you need some CF support rods, but perhaps too late for that… Cheers Paul
