While in my local Guitar Center to pick up my Ibanez AAD300CE guitar on Thursday I noticed a display of the Bose L1 Pro 16 and L1 Pro8 just inside the store's entrance. While the clerk was fetching my guitar, I checked out both Bose systems by wobbling the towers to see for myself what this dreaded tower wobble was all about. I noticed a black sheet metal collar around the bottom of each tower with a tightening knob on the back of each one. There didn't seem to be too much tower wobble when I tried rocking each tower. Is this collar a "fix" that Bose has introduced to stabilize the L1 Pro8 and L1 Pro16 towers? If so this moves both these systems to the top of my shortlist of try and buy next!
Can anyone confirm what I saw as being a Bose fix for the dreaded tower wobble on the L1Pro 8 and L1 Pto16?

No they haven't. That black collar is an anti theft device.

Thanks! I haven't been going to my local Guitar Center much in the last couple of years so I didn't know the store was doing this anti-theft collar thing now.

I have had the Pro 8 since shortly after it came out and have used it many times at gigs. While the tower doesnt feel particulary”solid”…. I havent found any issue with it in use. A firm click on mine and it seems just fine…i cant speak for the 16 as i dont have experience. Just my input on the wobble.

I have the L16 also. As near as I can tell, it is a non issue. No, it is not solid, yes, it works fine.
So far 😜 I really do not think is is a problem. The biggest problem is the price of the wheeled bag…… |

Hello everyone,
you can watch the following videos. This fixes more than 80% of the wobble of the Pro16 - Pro8 Indeed I find it a shame that Bose hasn't done anything better to correct this "problem" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WBfe...vidB_AudioTech https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xGObdOwfViA thank you ![]() Last edited by pgtcobra; 09-25-2023 at 06:39 PM. I have been using a L1 Pro8 for most gigs since early this year and it is true that if you shake the column it will wobble, but I have never seen it wobble during a performance. At all...no movement and it works like it's supposed to. I do have the issue of needing to whack the top of the tower to ensure it's seated properly but that is it. I guess I have about 60-70 gigs with it so far this year. It sounds great. Last week I was hired by a venue to provide sound for an acoustic duo and I was really impressed with the performance of my Pro8 from an audience member perspective. I had the volume set fairly low and it filled up every inch of a rather large room and every place in the room sounded like it was the same volume. Very impressive system.

That's impressive, and also hilarious considering Bose engineers couldn't either design or prevail in budget meetings to do something like that for their $1300-$1900 PAs.
If you follow the links through, he's selling them for around $28. Works on both the 8 or 16. |

The shame is, the previous model, the Compact had a rock solid connection! Same for the L1M2, much better construction compared to the new, more $$$ Pro32. I guess you have to decide: light weight of current models or tank like construction of old series.

The Pro16 is far from lightweight. I hate humping the base section, it's close to 50 lbs! But it does sound great!!!
