Whoo Hoo, that's big news. I wonder what pickup they put in it.
This is going to be very expensive but, SC owners, if you swap out to that pickup you'll most likely get the John Mayer sound. |

I rather like making a more mainstream version, but that fingerboard inlay would turn me away.

They made the letters that big to answer the question so many are asking ''Who's that guy in Jerry's spot?''! |

On a side note, John IMO gets off on stuff like this. I think he loves picking up random gear to play, just so sales can sky rocket. I do hope that they continue to develop this new model though. The standard sounds cheap to me. |

When the SC-13 first released the first guitarist I thought of that could make perfect use of it was John Mayer. He tends to play unplugged versions of many of his electric songs that frequently use the upper registers, so the SC-13 seemed almost meant to be built for his needs.
Of course, he still uses many Martin traditional designs, but the SC-13 seems like a great fit for his arsenal. |

There was nothing negative about what I posted so no need to try to be sarcastic. John Mayer has used a Matrix for years. It's a standard UST pickup and sounds like a piezo. That's the tone that most players despise. I would never look to Mayer for a great acoustic tone. My point, which you missed, is that going from the SC pickup to the Matrix will not be a big difference as they are both UST pickups.
