Nylon Strings with a G (3rd) wound

Thomastik CF128 Flatwound Classical Guitar Strings have a Wound G (like an Acoustic Guitar String set) & it's made essentially like the Bass Strings in a Classical Guitar String set (Nylon wound in Metal). The Wound G actually acts like a "Transitional String" & I think a Wound G string would sound better if you use a Pick to strum on the strings.

There ARE actually a lot of choices these days- more than a decade ago- probably a good deal, but it does leave us guessing!

I prefer rectified nylon, that's what I am most used to playing. D'Addarios HT tension set is my go to. Great strings, long life. Pepe Romeros are a tad softer and sweeter, but also more noisy trebles. Don't know about longevity yet.

I think if all the wound strings were flatwound & so was the wound g, it would help. The wound g acts as a transitional string.

The Design of the Wound G has improved over the years so it's alot stronger than it used to be years ago.

I like these on my Taylor crossover, something between nylon and steel in feel and sound. They seem to last pretty good and hold tune as well. Good thing, they are a tad pricey !
