Pictures: https://drive.google.com/drive/folde...yLB1_NMb50dpzp “The Bone Crusher”, aka the 1930’s Gibson Advanced Jumbo, was originally made to compete with the competition of the 1930’s prewar Martins. Earlier in his luthier career, John was the go-to at Gibson for handcrafting the guitars that were special ordered by the best musicians who played Gibson guitars. John, along with Ren Ferguson, started the Gibson Custom Shop in the 1990’s. When I purchased this guitar, I had an hour long conversation with Greg Boyd regarding John Walker and his luthier. Greg Boyd, who personally knows John Walker, is the only dealer for his guitars. From that conversation with Greg, I learned that John Walker was specifically tasked by Gibson to resurrect the Advanced Jumbo into Gibson’s production in the 1990’s using the original models from the 1930’s design. Man, I would have bought this in a heartbeat!! My/your timing was off by a week… (pulled the trigger on a Fairbanks). Oh well, someone’s going to be thrilled. John Walker is a tone magician and a peerless craftsman.
