I was having trouble understanding Fishman’s AFX Mini Blender, but Teja Gerken’s demo video for Peghead Nation did a good job of explaining how the Mini Blender can be paired with two of the AFX Mini EQ/preamp pedals to make a pretty decent blender for dual source pickup rigs. (No doubt Fishman had their own dual source pickup systems in mind. While those systems offer onboard blending, the two sources can also be accessed separately with a stereo cable.) While Fishman’s mini pedals won’t compete with the Grace Felix for blending effectiveness, they should be decently effective for 30% of the cost.
In any event, I’m wondering if any forum members have already been using these pedals to blend two sources. If so, how well is it working for you? It would be possible to mix the two sources with the AFX Mini Blender alone, but that doesn’t have any advantage over onboard blending. The real “magic” is in being able to EQ the two signals separately before blending. https://youtu.be/pC10cfGZFnQ?si=HgP31PTAmb2gN2Vn |
