Default How to add a tone pot?

I have an old cheap acoustic that I want to modify. I want to add a sound hole pickup and I want drill a hole on the flattop to add a volume pot kind of like John Lennons. I am open to any suggestions. I also want to know what value of pot should I use. If anyone has done this before I would love to see some pics. Thanks

I've used soundhole mag pickups many years ago. I've never tried what you're describing. Most soundhole pickups are passive, and I personally think it's better to add volume/tone controls after or in the preamp or amplifier vs before.

IMO a better way to go would be adding an inexpensive passive piezoelectric SBT like JJB, then connect it to something like the K&K Pure preamp. This gives you amplification ability and volume and tone controls right on your belt. I've used my K&K Pure for years. It works great, but after I got a Redeye the K&K took a back seat.

You can also buy a volume pot or pickup with volume/tone control straight from JJB. Both of these would place the volume/tone controls before the preamp.

If you're talking about this pickup:

It's a P90 pickup with V & T controls. You can probably buy one somewhere with the wiring and pots already connected. The installation is probably easy on a standard acoustic.
