Thanks again, b1j! Checked the plugin last night, and see I put it at 41Hz - not scientific, I just dragged back and forth then bypassed to see what made sense.

Thank you, Bob. The guitar is a (Gage) Halland 000, in African Blackwood and Moon Spruce, a real gem that I find sounds much bigger than its size would indicate.

Take this for what it's worth: I often wear hearing aids when watching TV as it helps with speech/sibilance, etc. I did not use them while listening to your video with my Sennheiser Momentum headphones.

The recording is incredibly bright/glassy sounding.

To get a vague comparison I made a point of immediately listening (on Soundcloud) to my own recording of a piece on my last CD where I played my 1 week old Monteleone LaCorsa 00-12 fret with new strings (maple & red spruce) into a pair of AKG 414's. Nowhere near as bright sounding.

Again, take that for what it's worth. At 71 years old, I never thought to have my ears checked during any of my recording projects, but having to turn on the closed captioning while watching TV the past year made me question where my hearing was at, and a test showed quite a loss of high end, especially in my left ear.

Hi Howard! Thank you for the compliments and the concern, too.

Totally agree the zinginess / crispiness. The end result is not a function of biology, but just my own gnorance related to listening / mixing, and frankly fatigue after several hours of trying to get a usable take!

I will keep that in mind for my next one as the recording journey continues.

I’m a but surprised that anyone found fault with the crisp and delicate sound of your recording and it was actually icing on the cake for me.

I'm also 71 and have, like most of us at this age, lost high end sensitivity.

Yet what is odd to me is that in spite of that, I'm much more bothered by high end harshness than I ever was when younger.

Regarding this video, I'm listening on Sony 7506s on my cheap laptop and the recording quality is, yes, bright, but to me not at all irritating even though these headphones dramatically accentuate mid highs.
