Default Blackbird to try?

Anyone have a blackbird guitar around Pasadena, CA (Los Angeles) that I could try it for 3 minutes?

😄😄😜

I doubt it is for sale but Ted at LA Guitar Sales has one of the 1st in his collection, might be worth a try to see if he would bring it to work for you to try.

FWIW Blackbird stopped making carbon fiber guitars several years ago. Now the two options are Savoy (00 size) and El Capitan (Grand Auditorium / small jumbo size). Both are ekoa linen fiber composite. Savoy has the advantage of a 24.5" scale length. I like both but the odd hollow slotted headstock on the El Cap was a visual barrier - for me. I thought it played and sounded really good, but was fully redundant with the Taylor GA's that I had at the time. It's only advantage over my 414 was being composite. And they have become really pricey of late - $5K.

If you can find a used Lucky 13 they are quite nice too. Until recently I had one. ted is a good guy and you might arrange a visit (by appointment) and to play his.

I'm wondering if I'll like the blackbirds more than my McPherson sable. I love the sable tone but finding it doesn't project as much as I'd like. Sounds somewhat muted to me...

I have one for sale in my local guitar shop in Hilo, Hawaii, if you’re in the neighborhood! It’s at Hilo Guitars at a great price.
