Default Prepared guitar

Any idea what's going on here? is it as simple as some wax paper weaved between the strings?

By the way, her stuff is fantastic if you haven't heard her.

That's wild.
Not a clue when I listened, but here's something I was able to find in an internet search:
"With Italian composer Domeniconi’s four-part “Koyunbaba op. 19”, about a thirteenth century hermit who lived in a cove by the Aegean Sea, Boros puts each of the various sections and elements of the piece in an explicit light, creating an enlarged vision of the whole. After climactic chords, soft paper placed on the guitar strings helps produce the muffled, quasi-sordino passage that opens Zsofia’s building rendition of the “volcanic” presto, as she describes it, played fast but light."

This is the source of the info.

Very innovative!

You can see in the video between 0:40 and 1:00 that there's a paper or tape applied individually to each string. Ralph Towner used to use a matchbook inserted between the strings but that was a but different.

I like the swan!

I've been doing something similar for years by narrowly folding a piece of tissue paper and weaving it in & out of the strings down by the saddle. I find the sound quite useful when used in a dense track.

There's a lot to enjoy in that video although I found the music a bit of a snooze.
