Though not a nightly ritual, I've been known to pluck a string or two when I walk by or tap gently on the soundboard to hear/feel a comforting thump. Not affection - it's just pleasing on a multi-sensory level.

Any other drummers here? I've had drum sets in every house since chilhood (or at least bongos for the past few years). Seriously, doesn't everyone pause when they walk past a drum of any sort and do at least a quiet one-handed finger roll? I think even non-musicians do that.

If we're talking "quirks," here's one that I share with just about everyone I've asked including my adult daughter who found tools in her new office a few years ago. Who can pick up a power drill and not goose the trigger once or twice?

No I don't do that sometimes people call me weird for playing the guitar while I watch TV. None of their ****** business right?

Of course you are weird. Welcome to the club. I don't do that every night but I can understand you wanting to do it.
