Default Today my Goodall turns 40 (or 10?)

Born Leap Day Feb 29, 1984.

I bought this Rosewood Standard on a whim in 2020. Now my four sons argue over which of them gets it in my will. I guess it's a keeper! We call him Aslan. Huge voice. Easy to play. Love it!

Almost forgot, Molly was born on leap day too!

They're both great companions.

Great Leap Year musical. I saw it in SF decades ago with James Belushi (John's brother) as the lead pirate.

So cool! I’ve owned and played a bunch of Goodall guitars but I’ve never played one older than about 1996 or so. Looks great!!

Wow! My 2004ish Goodall was a stellar guitar. I'd love to play one twice as old. May it give you many happy hours of good music.

I have a 1990 Rosewood Standard, just keeps sounding better.
I love the batwing bridge and the way the fretboard curves around the sound hole where they meet. These guitars are so resonant and responsive.

I'm sure they must be. Don't see too many adult dogs froggin' like in this picture. Supposed to be the sign of a great dog which I'm sure she is!

Nice Goodall...better dog!

My son was born 2/29/88! Everything else being equal, the percentage is 0.00068446269! The woman that was my wife’s roommate was scheduled for that day (Monday) and absolutely refused even after being told her insurance company wouldn’t cover the extra day!

I have played several newer standards, and while they have all been incredible instruments, I definitely think these older ones have some different mojo. I don't know if it's just the age or if there are actual construction differences.

The thing I love most about this guitar is the trebles. Particularly in 9th position and above, it projects like a mandolin. Big, round, bold and loud. I have no idea how they do it. The bracing looks so ho-hum to the eye. But man, it does the job.

Wow, that's awesome, I imagine it sounds amazing! Congrats on the anniversary of a special guitar.

The pup is pretty cool too...

My Goodall standard was built in 1979. Birds eye maple back and sides with a Brazilian rosewood wedge in the centre of the back.

I think I've seen this one on the interweba before. Would love to hear it. 79 is my birth year, and generally not a great year for gear. But a birth year Goodall - that could be a thing!
