IPad / Tablet Apps
I would like to use my Tablet to store and display sheet music, set lists and so on.
Asking for opinions on the Apps that work best ? EZ learning curve

I have an iPad and use Set List Maker, and have had it for at least five years.

I recently converted all my paper song sheets to digital. I used Apple's free "Pages" app and it's working well for me at home to organize them. A little learning curve for editing works in progress but having Pages documents available via iCloud makes it convenient to open any song on any gadget I happen to have in my hands.

I used to use Songsheet with an old iPad but after that crapped out (the iPad) I lost all my work. So now I subscribe to Ultimate Guitar ($19.99/yr) which I've always used as my research tool to find tabs for new songs anyway. I use an inexpensive Samsung 10" Tablet which I use when playing live as well as a reference tool with the current setlist and all songs readily available for viewing as needed during a gig.
As a subscriber I have access to all my songs, I can simplify, transpose, edit, create my own and save everything to my own setlists but it's all saved to the UG website cloud so I have access to everything from any platform I want including my phone and laptop. As a gigging guitarist I've found the small annual fee very affordable. Note that you can also use UG for free without being a subscriber but there are limitations. |

I began to digitalize all my thousands of song sheets some five years ago
on my PC and realize I had to keep and up to date security copy... So I kept all my books and digitalize a piece at a time when I need to. Some years ago, friends were talking about Onsong.

I try to learn all my songs rather than rely on reading them, but my 75-year-old brain occasionally needs a prompt, and I like an easily-visible set-list which can be amended quickly and easily and shared with the band.
So I use a standard 9.7” iPad (5th Generation) and OnSong. Excellent for lyrics/chords sheets, set-list creation and storage, and sharing with my fellow musicians. I have a K&M iPad-holder which mounts on my mic stand, I set it at about waist height so that it doesn’t get in the way of my view of the audience, or the audience’s view of me. If I need a prompt, a quick glance downwards and slightly left is all it takes, and I’m not fixedly gazing at a screen instead of interacting, and making eye-contact, with the audience. Unlike some other people, I make my lyrics and chords fit on one page, so I have no need of the further complication of page-turning pedals. 6B035FFB-583E-4D70-BB05-5CA1DBD92C3C.jpg

OnSong (iPad only, unfortunately not available for Android) is fantastic and the only reason I bought an iPad. That should tell you how much I like OnSong! Yes, there is a little bit of a learning curve, as there would be with any app, but it has been well worth it.

I've got the Ultimate Guitar app on my 10" Kindle, and use it regularly when I go to jams.

Hi all…
I'm an all-Mac user (since 1988). For my iPads I use UnRealBook - reads pdf files only Onsong - I have friends who use this for ChordPro files and pdf. Helpful to learn ChordPro to make additions and corrections to song sheets and to 'code' your own. ForScore - this is truly a musical score (with notation) app. Allows config to auto-jump to different locations when using endings, repeats, etc. It has capability to follow score location markings (like D.C. al Coda). Designed to be used with bluetooth pedal.

Since you say "tablet" I assume you're in the Android universe. I've tried a few, and MobileSheets is my fave. Easy to use, intuitive, inexpensive, and there's a companion PC app that's helpful when you want a keyboard.

Another fan of Apple app Pages. Simple to edit, easy to search and organize. Plus if you’re going to be somewhere without wifi just do screenshots of your playlist. Ease of editing makes it nice for songwriting. Price is right too !

I've been using MobileSheets, sometimes iRealBook, on my 8" android for some time. But it's too small and I find it fiddly scrolling/searching, and there's so many songs on my device....at my acoustic duo gigs we tend to wing it and often mix it up depending on how we (or sometimes the audience) are feeling. So I've gone back to a folder with printed pages, trimmed down to the "songs we are currently doing"
