This gizmo Irig
Anybody plugged an SM-57 into this and used it to record a video on an ipad, then used garage band to tweak if so desired?

It looks like you will still need a microphone preamp. This iRIG has an instrument level input but a microphone signal is far lower.
You would be better served by the iRig Pre HD.

I use the iRig Pro duo. Love it.
Phantom power for a mic that requires it, and allows you to use two inputs at once. It’s a bit pricier, but also has independent level control. https://www.sweetwater.com/store/det...E&gclsrc=aw.ds That link looks crazy, it may be easier to search for IRig Pro Duo. Good luck! Dave

I use the single channel version of this regularly. It also allows for direct headphone monitoring (less latency). Simple, compact, battery powered... it does the job.
