Angry Get yer Joe Taylor babies while they're hot!

You know how some Asian guitar companies produced knockoff copies of well-known American guitars, then got sued, and now the cheap guitars have "collector" value???

Well, don't hesitate, get your "baby" for ONLY $79.95. Call NOW, operators are standing by!

Who the heck is Joe Taylor?

What's that scurrying sound, lawyers putting their briefs together?

Ah yes, we all know how well Deans compete with Taylors. But hey, you get a "collector box" -- that's gotta be worth something!

Here's a link to Dean's page re the Playmate JT:
http://www.deanguitars.com/playmates/15.htm

There's no mention of the woods that make up the body, just the neck and fingerboard. Looks like it might just be worth the $25 high bid I saw on ebay, even with the collector box. (Dean's MSRP is $79.)

Sorry if this sounds snobby, but when it comes to really cheap guitars, I honestly think you get what you pay for.

I "played" one of these today. The neck and body feel like plastic and the fingerboard seems to be concave. I played it right after a baby and there is no comparison. Would make a nice clock though, but I would not put chimes in there. They might not resonate too well.

Well...I think I gotta get one too. Apparently they are a "chick magnet" ...note this quote from the Ebay ad:

All the Ladies say it is "super cute."

Don't need that red vette anymore...getting me a JT.....

As I see it, there's one problem with buying one of these things just for kicks: It will help convince both Dean and the dealer that there's actually a demand for them.
