Best bang for your buck - which online parts warehouse gets the best deals?
Im looking to get my dad a gift for xmas, hes constantly tinkering around with his acoustics and electrics and has thrown together some cool rigs, I mostly just do smaller mods and that I can get most of the parts Im after down at the music store in town....But old dad has a heck of a time finding parts for his more advanced projects and Im thinkin of maybe getting him a gift certificatre for xmas....Im assuming the bigger parts online warehouse supply guys must sell em?? Im refering to all parts, warmoth, stewmac.....those would be the big 3 im guessing ya? out of those sites or any other big ones some might reccomend do u know if any of them have end of year sales? or boxing day sales? I dont think you fine folks from the USA do the boxing day thing down there...but here in Canada on boxing day all the retailers do there big super low prices extravaganza same thing as black friday down there (thou in the last 10 years alot of American chains have moved north and are doin buisness in Canada, so we have black friday now here as well, thou it pales in comparison to boxing day, both in the crowds and the deals) anyhow let me know which sites generally carry the better deals....and I shall get his gift certs from there....cheers and thank you.

I'd probably base my choice on shipping costs to Canada...

Wrong section for sure.
Buying out of the US will see you getting charged customs charges to do the paperwork. Stewmac, LMI, seems oh so tempting picking up some binding, perfling, little bits and pieces, and then you get hit a month later by the shipping company for doing the paperwork to clear customs. And then you get China sending you stuff with free shipping. |

hmmm you fellas brought up a good point...shipping to Canada...I havent done much online purchases so it sorta slipped my mind but your right customs could be a royal pain in the butt....anyone know of any Canadian online luthier suppliers? Ill have to google it....Americans are sitting pretty in the world of online shopping, seems that all the best websites for buying online are US based! Must be nice not having to deal with customs ! Someone mentioned that alot of Chinese websites are offering free shipping? Ouch, thats gotta hurt the US companies manufacturing/distribution....Not only are Chinese companies counterfieting their goods, but they also offer free shipping on top of that??? Oh and sorry mods for putting this in the wrong section, Id hate to put you to work on christmas day! Meh....take the day off mods...if you catch any crap from the boss 'just tell em Pornlando said you could....

Allparts is a good source for hardware type stuff - especially for electrics.
Not really sure whether you are looking for guitar parts, raw wood or accessories.

Grizzly Industrial Supply has a lot of great guitar supplies and kits. Blues Creek (John Hall) has what your Dad needs or can get it.
