If you're concerned about epoxy melting the case, then put a thick coat of urethane on it first, then put the epoxy on top of it.
I've done this on wood, and the epoxy held up just fine.

My TRIC case came with a tan Cordura cover (complete with shoulder straps and pouches) but I don't know if you can buy that separately.
I like the duct tape idea, especially if you sue real HVAC grade duct tape. Anything else seems like way more work than it is probably worth. You should be looking mostly for abrasion resistance, not impact resistance - that is what the foam is for. I know a touring pro who uses plain TRIC cases for his Martin D15. The airlines have damaged (crushed) one or two guitars over the years, but otherwise it protects them nicely from bumps and temperature swings. And when the TRIC case gets damaged, he buys another. |
