I'm listening to "Chester & Lester" as I write this.
You can clsim it was Elvis, or Michael Jackson, but Les was the King as far as I'm concerned.

I was in New York for a month, the summer of 1996. I have always regretted not making the time to catch Les Paul's weekly appearance at the Irridium while there.
What a great contributor to the world of music, guitar and technology.

I saw him at the Iridium in September 2007 when he was 93 and I'm so glad I got to see him. He was still sharp as a tack and still played guitar quite well considering his physical problems. His passing is a loss for all of us, but what he gave us during is life is a tremendous gain.

Couldn't believe someone had not already posted this here.
Les passed away at 94 . . . a real pioneer, inventor, and musical talent. EDIT - Oops - see they put it in the "electrified" section . . . .

Great.
I was too danged "cheap" to go see Mr. Les Paul at the Iridium 2 years ago...
Quite frankly, I'm proud to say that my Gibson Les Paul is my "Number 1" electric guitar. R.I.P. Les Paul. I can't imagine what the music world would be without you and your contributions...

Les Paul passed away.
Les Paul died..What an innovator. He played guitar to the end at 94. Still played every weekend at a night club. What a legacy he left behind.

Les Paul died today
In his 90's. Died of severe pnumonia (sp) with his loved ones around him. How sad to see another great go.

Grew up listening to Paul and Mary and those great overdubbed recordings.
My uncle who lived above us in a 2 family house bought one of the early Les Paul models and he and my aunt , (coincidentally also named Paul and Mary) would play and sing their songs right over my room. A great inventor, musician, and visionary. What a great fullfiling life. Bye Paul & thanks

There will never be another Les Paul. What he accomplished in his lifetime is astounding.
Just amazing the contributions he has made to music and to guitars.

Good bye Mr. Les Paul
I checked and didn't see that anyone else has posted this news. Some may think "this is an electric thing" but the problem Les Paul was trying to solve in the late 20s and early 30s was how to make his acoustic guitar louder.

Aside from his enormous contribution to music production and his influence on Rock'n'Roll in general, given the hundreds of thousands of guitars out there bearing his name, I think it's safe to say he'll NEVER be forgotten. Bong
