Default Jimmy Page Fender Tele Signature model

Fender just announced that in 2019 it will release 4 different Jimmy Page Fender Telecaster signature models - two from the standard production line and two more from the custom shop. Jimmy recorded Led Zeppelin I with his Tele (and numerous other things too including the Stairway to Heaven solo).

I'm guessing that he wouldn't have an active Gibson endorsement to do this?

Sounds like the folks working at the Fender Custom shop have a dream job. On the L&M catalogue I noticed there are currently* 3 colour choice heavy relic Telecasters with two piece baked alder body and baked maple neck with reverse control plate and bucker in the neck. $6000 each Canadian.

* no longer on catalogue/ may have sold out (already)

I don't ever remember seeing a pic of him with a Tele. Les Pauls and of course the 12/6 Gibson double neck he used for Stairway in live shows.

Check YouTube for a live version of Communication Breakdown from the sixties, pretty cool.

Oh, here's the link.

I don’t know how Fender is going to reproduce that Dragon Tele colour scheme and design in a convincing way to the buying public. We live in a sophisticated age for vintage guitars, the latest ‘58 plaintop LP reissues for example, in comparison to Page’s poor old Tele looking a bit childish, from the bit naive flowerpower era. I dunno.

Maybe there was a "Communication Breakdown" with Gibson? Or did he say, "Baby, I'm Gonna Leave You..."

Sorry for "ramblin' on..."

Thanks for posting these pics. Always nice to see old pics of rock stars in action.
